CHRIS CRAFT EXPRESS CRUISER 31'. Owner's son says, "My father
has a 1952 Chris Craft 31ft Express Cruiser with twin Model M 130 hp
engines and reduction gears available for restoration or parts. My
parents are the second owners and bought the boat in 1968 after
returning from the Worlds Fair in Montreal. The whole family went by
boat (a 22ft Trojan with a single engine). The engine lost its water
pump during the trip through one of 7 the locks stranding the family for
a day. My Dad swore he would never have another single engine boat and
with the family growing he started looking for a larger one. He found
the 1951 Chris Craft advertised in the local paper by a guy who managed
the local 7Up bottling plant. It was docked in Clayton NY at the time.
The original owner told him the boat wintered in Florida a couple of
years but was in the 1000 Islands each summer.
"The boat has
been in Alexandria Bay NY since we bought it. It has been In covered
storage when not in use. We took impeccable care of the boat until a
severe winter windstorm in 1991 knocked part of the boathouse onto the
boat snapping the bolt-on keel and windshield. The gunwales and top were
also damaged. The keel has been replaced. The boat has not been used
since 1991. All hardware is original except the steering wheel which is
missing. Interior and both engines, reduction gears, props, rudders, and
shafts are in good order. Engines have been turned over by hand yearly.
One engine was totally overhauled in the late 80's and the other had a
complete valve job the following year. Boat is perfect for a good
mahogany woodworker. Boat is in covered storage in Alexandria Bay
NY." Asking $4000 (negotiable). Contact Nick at ...
