1947
MATTHEWS 38'. 11'6" beam. Bone Yard Boats was
contacted by a North Texas marina seeking help in finding a new owner
for this 1947 Matthews 38': "We are marina operators who have been lucky
to become the proud new owners of the boat in the attached photos. We
really don't know much about the boat but need it off our property."
While she appears to be in pretty good shape in the photos, the boat
clearly has issues according to the marina operator: "The hull is not
sound and the boat has sunk... twice, and we have raised it each time
before finally pulling it out of the water. The previous owner had the
engines running before the boat sank this last time. I believe that the
engines are Ford 427's. There is a clear title available for this vessel
and we are asking $5000 (negotiable), which is what we have in the boat
after labor and storage fees."
These Matthews were built in Port Clinton, OH, on Lake Erie, and this
boat has the port of Grand Island, NY, on the transom. There has to be
some story surrounding how this nearly 60-year old Matthews ended up on
a North Texas lake, but for now it's a mystery. Marina says, "...no
ideas on who, what, when, why, or how it got to Texas."
Boat located TX.
Marina encourages calls if
there's an interest -- "have them call and we can work out the details."
